about us.

Who are we?

Remain in France Together is a large group of British citizens living in France that defends and supports the preservation and protection of UK citizens' rights after Brexit.

At Remain in France Together we:

  • campaign and advocate for the rights of British citizens living in France and support campaigns for the rights of French and EU citizens in the UK;

  • provide information, help and support on rights and administrative issues that affect the lives of British citizens in France;

  • raise awareness of the situation of British citizens in France after Brexit;

  • belong to and work with British in Europe and coordinate our activities with this and other groups representing British citizens in the EU and EU citizens in the UK.
We are a large and diverse group of many ages and backgrounds. Some of us have lived for many years in France,
while others arrived more recently; some of us are retired, while most have jobs or run businesses. Some are married to or live with partners from other EU or non EU countries; others have taken or are in the process of applying for French citizenship.

In spite of our many differences, we are united by our love for France and the wish that as British citizens who have exercised our EU rights to move across the Channel, we should not lose the rights and freedoms conferred on us as EU citizens.

All members of the team are volunteers.

We believe that

  • Any Brexit deal should fully respect the acquired rights of British citizens living in France and other EU member states, in terms of their residency, employment, freedom of movement, pensions, healthcare and other rights;
  • It should also fully respect the corresponding rights of EU nationals living in the UK, on the same terms as the rights of British citizens living in the EU;
  • The current situation has made it evident that the best way to preserve and protect citizens' rights is for the UK to remain in the EU, and therefore in order to meet our second aim the best Brexit deal would be to now revoke Article 50;
  • Failing that, any deal should comprehensively guarantee all of our existing rights; and
  • If the UK and EU are unable to agree an exit deal, UK and EU citizens' rights should be ring-fenced and jointly protected under an international treaty.
